Jordan began his career in property tax administration when he was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown as an attorney at the State agency responsible for overseeing and auditing County Assessors. Jordan oversaw ensuring no taxpayer was overtaxed, and Jordan protected the law limiting taxes on homes and renters.

Today, Jordan serves as your Chief Deputy Assessor/ Taxpayer Advocate, Jordan oversees the San Diego County Assessor/ Recorder/ Clerk’s mission to deliver great customer service, with 450 employees and a balanced $80 million budget. Jordan ensures transparency, fairness – and limits property tax increases on renters and homeowners.

This is a technical office that places values on real and personal properties for property tax purposes. It maintains all your vital records including birth/ marriage/ death certificates and official real estate documents. It is the Commissioner of Civil Ceremonies issuing marriage licenses and performing civil ceremonies.

Jordan’s innovative programs have delivered San Diegans “unprecedented tax savings:”
$18.7 Million for Disabled Veterans;
$32.8 Million for Homeowners/ Seniors;

When COVID shut down all government offices, Jordan’s leadership helped the San Diego County Assessor/ Recorder/ Clerk Office find an innovative solution to safely remain open for marriage licenses and weddings by creating the award-winning “Marriage Hut” in Waterfront Park. They were the only Clerk’s Office in California to stay open, saving thousands of weddings.  (NBC 7 San Diego)

Jordan is committed to a more affordable San Diego. He will protect the law limiting taxes on homes and renters. He will advocate for increasing the renter’s tax credit and homeowner’s tax credit to make living in San Diego more affordable.

Jordan is married and they have a son and puppy max. Jordan serves in the community on the USS Midway Museum, with the City of San Diego U.S. Coast Guard Committee, and as advisor to the OASIS senior continuing learning center.
